My plans for improving PubStudio’s image support have been languishing, so I’m going to use today’s site as the impetus to spend time on it. It should be possible to include a photo gallery and lightbox (photo gallery overlay) to any site, and easy to add additional photos.

As more advanced components are added, it has become necessary to implement custom UI for adding and updating component data. There are many conveniences that could be included for a photo gallery - there may not be time to build much for this site, but I can at least use the prototype to decide which features to prioritize.

The minimum requirements are a photo gallery and lightbox component, as well as a way to link them. Ideally, creating a photo gallery would show a popup that allows the user to customize it, e.g. by automatically linking a lightbox component.

Some other nice features would be tagging assets, so that the gallery can include filters. Future improvements to the asset library could take advantage of this filtering as well. Additionally, arrow keys for navigating the lightbox would be convenient, as well as optional captions.
